So when your redhat co-worker/relative/whatever comes at you with “Both sides, because the Dayton shooter was ‘left-wing!'” —
Just do what I do, and ask them exactly *which* tenet of the left-wing agenda the Dayton shooter was trying to further.
Then sip some tea to cover the awkward silence. Optionally. That’s an optional step.
It’s not like the connection between the El Paso shooter’s crime and his political agenda is remotely hard to draw, after all.
We have to call this false-equivalency bullshit everywhere it appears, because it still has way too much power to confuse the well-intended but unreflective.
