On Election eve he claimed he’d actually won but a great “fraud” was being perpetrated. He and his campaign have launched legal attacks in a number of states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, aimed at stopping or invalidating vote counting — especially in urban areas with many Black and Latino voters — on baseless claims of voter fraud. Trump supporters in Detroit and Arizona have tried to barge into a polling locations and stop vote counting. Eric Trump and Rudy Giuliani went to Philadelphia and attempted to hold a press conference to attack vote counting. @RefuseFascismPH and others protested and according to one reporter, “Promised press conference by #Trumpcampaign at 12th & Market morphs into #CountEveryVote rally.” This morning supporters are calling for protests at Philadelphia’s Convention Center where votes are being counted. Trump has promised this election would be decided by the Supreme Court he’s packed with rightwing fascists, not the voters. Now, the New York Times reports that Trump’s “Justice” Dept claims it has the right to “send armed federal officers to ballot-counting locations around the country to investigate potential voter fraud,” raising the specter they would block vote counting in states where Trump is trailing. This must not stand! Trump’s demands are illegitimate, utterly racist, and a qualitative leap in the theft of the election and the imposition of fascism. Now is the time to be on alert and in the streets — in our masses — in nonviolent, creative, sustained and determined action. Very importantly, on November 4 there were significant “Count Every Vote” protests in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and many other cities. These outpourings must continue until every vote is counted, and until this regime is gone and this nightmare is ended. White supremacy is illegitimate. Patriarchal theocracy is illegitimate.
