The Senate is trying ex-president Trump on the charge of incitement of insurrection on January 6 by urging his followers to storm the Capital. This was an attempted fascist coup to overturn the election and establish a fascist America. This mob of Trump followers caused the deaths of 5 people and threatened the lives of several prominent politicians, such as Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Vice-President Pence. The Senate charge is extremely serious when one considers that the insurrection was intended to replace a democratic government by a fascist one, in which the dictator’s will is enforced by cruel and bloody means. The People’s Trial of Donald Trump will demonstrate how Trump’s policies reflect his fascism, which has led to crimes against humanity. Some examples of these crimes are his separation of children (many only infants) at the U.S. southern border and his locking them into crowded cages; his encouraging the police to mishandle and, in some cases kill, “Black Lives Matter” demonstrators, his causing the deaths of thousands of Americans by downplaying the deadliness of the COVID-19 pandemic and scoffing at the scientific means of controlling this disease, and numerous other assaults on his own citizens. These other atrocities will be enumerated during the People’s Trial.
