Thursday night, Carl Dix and Cornel West went head-to-head with host Bill O’Reilly on Fox’s O’Reilly Factor, exposing Donald Trump as a fascist and calling on millions to join them in the streets to stop him – not “give him a chance” as O’Reilly argued.
Their appearance was prompted by the publication of a full-page signed ad in the New York Times on Wednesday calling for millions to rise up in political protest and resistance to “Stop the Trump/Pence Regime Before It Starts!” Dix and West are among the initiators of RefuseFascism.org which sponsored the ad.
Since the ad, many more have signed this Call to Action, donated funds for its publication in other major newspapers, and stories have appeared in Variety (“Rosie O’Donnell, Debra Messing Among Celebrities Signing Anti-Trump ‘Fascist’ Warning“) and Common Dreams (“Urging Millions to Rise Up, Trump Foes Issue Call to ‘Resist Fascism‘”) as well as other publications.

BACKGROUND
Prominent scientists, actors, musicians, intellectuals, activists, religious leaders, and over 3,000 others, have called for massive protests and resistance to “Stop the Trump/Pence Regime Before It Starts!” in a full-page signed ad on January 4 in the New York Times.
The declaration, “NO! In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America” warns that Trump is “assembling a regime of grave danger” whose fascist character “renders it illegitimate and an immoral peril to the future of humanity and the earth itself.”
They state: “millions must rise up in a resistance with a deep determination such that we create a political crisis that prevents the Trump/Pence fascist regime from consolidating its hold on the governance of society.” To achieve that they call for “protests that don’t stop—where people refuse to leave, occupying public space, and more and more people stand up with conviction and courage.”
