February 20 Thousands of people continued to protest the Trump/Pence regime’s assaults on immigrants over the weekend in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and other cities. NO! posters and stickers of RefuseFascism.org in multiple languages are increasingly evident at these protests – this needs to grow, spread, and put a stamp on protest everywhere. In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America! Drive Out the Trump/Pence Regime!
February 20: Thousands came out for a powerful “Today, I Am A Muslim Too: A Day of Solidarity”, at Times Square. Arab and South Asian people, and thousands of others, declared their determination to stand against Trump’s vicious attacks on Muslims. Thousands got the Call from Refuse Fascism and hundreds got NO! posters in English and Arabic, along with some in Spanish, Hebrew, French, Chinese and other languages.
February 19 On Friday the Associated Press (A.P.) reported the draft of a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposal to use up to 100,000 National Guard troops in 11 states as immigration agents in rounding up and deporting untold thousands of immigrants. The report was issued by the office of John Kelly, DHS director, and stated it was intended to implement Trump’s executive order on “Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvement”. Spokespeople for the Trump/Pence regime first denied the A.P. story. Then they claimed it was an early draft. They gave no explanation for why the proposal had supposedly been rejected for now. No regime official ruled out the future use of the National Guard to round up immigrants.
Millions of people in the crosshairs of midnight raids; deportations that tear apart families; checkpoints staffed by armed military personnel popping up in barrios of cities and towns in the Southwest; soldiers boarding busses and trains to check for papers, and providing immediate punishment to those who don’t provide. This is part of the nightmare of the fascist America Trump is trying to consolidate. It is utterly unacceptable. For the future of humanity, we, the people, must drive this regime out.
February 18:Thousands of people hit the streets of downtown Los Angeles Saturday, February 18, for the “Free the People Immigrant March – Sanctuary for All!” event. The mass action came in the context of a series of the Trump/Pence regime’s fascist decrees and actions targeting immigrants. And, this protest came during a month of mass resistance to these vicious threats and government attacks: massive protests at airports throughout the U.S. and in cities large and small which tens of thousands of people have righteously participated in.
