FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

YES! There is NO SOLUTION to Trump Fascism, other than the largest nonviolent but determined and sustained mass mobilization in US history. This provides THE ONLY CHANCE to actually remove—drive out—this regime from power.

Nothing short of actually removing this regime will stop this accelerating fascism. This is the nature of FASCISM, an openly terroristic form of dictatorship. The lesson of history is that fascism must be defeated before it becomes too late.

Yes! For two reasons. First, millions and millions of decent people have protested and shown their opposition in ways big and small. Second, there are splits all the way to the top in every institution in society and government over what Trump is doing.

This means that there are forces still within the ruling structures of this country who could be compelled to legitimately remove Trump from power. But this could only be compelled – and it would only have enough power and chance at success – with a massive political earthquake from below.

First, the elections far too late. Trump’s atrocities are escalating by the day! Second, no reasonable person should honestly expect that Trump – a man who instigated and then pardoned the January 6th insurrectionists – would respect a future election he loses. In fact, Trump is already working to gerrymander and rig the next election and is setting up precedent for sending military into cities that might vote against him. He must be nonviolently driven from power – and it must happen soon.

YES! First, fascism is never legitimate – no matter how it comes to power. Second, Trump surrendered any claim to “legitimacy” that his election might have conferred the minute he began using his constitutionally obtained power to violate and dismantle the U.S. Constitution.

There are several legal and constitutional mechanisms whereby Trump could be removed, but our job is not to narrow down and figure out the exact mechanism. Our responsibility is to flood the streets and public squares in nonviolent protest in our millions, and create such a profound political crisis that the regime can no longer govern the country and hold. The regime could fall in waves or all at once. The collapse could start with Trump or with someone else in his regime (e.g, Vance, Stephen Mller, or Russell Vought). Trump could be impeached (by the US House) and convicted (by the US Senate) or removed via the 25th Amendment (by the Cabinet and potentially by the Congress) or simply forced to resign (like Richard Nixon in 1974). However it happens, the regime must go as soon as possible. Globally, non-violent movements have driven hated regimes out of power by converging nonviolently on the capital and not backing down until their demand for removal is met.

No decent person wants to live under a Vance presidency. Refuse Fascism is calling for the removal of whole fascist Trump regime. That development will bring down a number of terrible actors, including Vance, even as Vance does not possess anything remotely close to Trump’s charisma and popularity with the fascist base. If he were to briefly ascend to the presidency following a mass uprising that forced Trump’s removal, he would be a far less potent agent of the Republi-fascist agenda than Trump. He would be handicapped by his own personal political deficits and above all by the existence of a mass nonviolent popular movement that would have set new terms for the political terrain in this country. He would be next up for removal!

History is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. It is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined.

The future is unwritten. WHICH ONE WE GET IS UP TO US.

IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA!

NOW IS the TIME WHEN WE MUST RISE UP and ACT to STOP the CONSOLIDATION of TRUMP MAGA FASCISM. For the lives of people here and around the world we must refuse unlawful and inhumane orders… we must fill the streets and town squares in non-violent protest—not stopping until we become millions — not relenting until this regime is no longer able to implement its program or maintain its hold on power.
