One important thing to keep a hold of: it is not only that you that see Trump as fascist, and therefore illegitimate; and it is not only that millions of others like you feel the same way. There are conflicts reaching into the highest reaches of the power structure, for very different reasons, that are also part of why we can prevent the Trump-Pence regime from ruling.
Read this excerpt from the front page story in the Saturday January 7 New York Times: “The report [referring to the intelligence report on alleged Russian hacking] – a virtually unheard-of, real-time revelation by the American intelligence agencies that undermined the legitimacy of the president who is about to direct them – made the case that Mr. Trump was the favored candidate of Mr. Putin.”
Note well: the intelligence agencies’ report “undermined the legitimacy” of Trump. Real conflicts exist at the top of the power structure over the high risks to their system if a Trump-Pence fascist regime were to come to power, and these find expression almost every day. Their reasons may not be our reasons; in some cases, there are fundamental differences.
But these conflicts can be utilized for good if there is a powerful upsurge of people from below saying “NO! In the name of humanity, we REFUSE to Accept A Fascist America!” and acting in a determined way on that.
With that, these differences “at the top” can be part of what lays the groundwork for our movement to succeed. Absent that, those differences will go nowhere – or at least nowhere good. So we need to reach out to the everyday people now sick at heart and angry over the prospect of this regime being imposed on humanity.
What can we do today to build this movement?
1. If you can possibly go to DC, go. If you are there, volunteer. Organizers are now in DC going 24/7 to build for massive demonstrations beginning Saturday, January 14 and to oppose Trump-Pence all week: in the neighborhoods and schools and downtown hubs, at the hearings for cabinet picks — and some surprising places as well. Be a part of doing something urgently needed for humanity with them.
2. Donate — and win others to donate — as much as you can to support this effort. Your donations will:
o Support the mobilizing work in Washington DC now
o Publish the NO! ad in The Washington Post this week, when there will be hearings on Trumpo-fascists like Jeff Sessions for Attorney General; Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary; and environmental plunderer Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State.
3. Spread the newly edited video of Cornel West and Carl Dix appearance on Fox News Bill O’Reilly and the Carl Dix interview with “Judge Jeanine” on social media and any other way you can think of. Carl makes the case against this fascist Trump news host with clarity, vigor and moral certitude.
For a better world,
