Two weeks from now our country will inaugurate the new President of the United States of America. But much about what the new era will bring remains unclear. Around the country- there is deep-rooted skepticism with Donald Trump’s inauguration, as well as the political office he conquered through “questionable,” means. I must note: also like much of the rest of the country -it remains confused and uncertain about what to expect from the soon-to-be President and the party he represents which is the “Conservative” Republican Party of the United States of America.I must say that for many years I have remained, Apolitical and as a national civil rights advocate-I have not to closely aligned with partisan politics and as we speak, my only motivating factor has always been to assist those who are”oppressed” and suffer through obstacles that impede their human rights in the United States of America and Internationally.
It is with this spirit in mind that I must say-We the people can no longer sit idle and allow the constitutional rights of our citizens to be taken for granted and so easily dismissed. Many of the reasons have already been detailed and explained by myself and a growing number of concerned prominent citizens the list includes:
Aiyub Abdul-Baki, Ed Asner, Bill Ayers, Fr. Bob Bossie SCJ, Herb Boyd, Charles Burnett, Isabel Cardenas, Margaret Cho, Kia Corthron, Joe Dante, Chuck D, Carl Dix, Alex Ebert, Niles Eldredge, Kurt Elling, Eve Ensler, Charles Gaines, Merrill Garbus, David Gunn Jr., Lalah Hathaway, Marc Lamont Hill, Chase Iron Eyes, Everett Iron Eyes Sr., Henry Giroux, Evelyn Fox Keller, Robin D.G. Kelley, Wayne Kramer, John Landis, Julie Mehretu, Vic Mensa, Debra Messing, Jessica Care Moore, Thurston Moore, PZ Myers, Arturo O’Farrill, Michelle Phillips, Milton Saier, Yusef Salaam, Dread Scott, Michael Shannon, Danny Simmons, David Strathairn, Alice Walker, Naomi Wallace, Cornel West, Saul Williams, and thousands more.
The appeal is direct in saying, that NO! IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA!”_Why because Donald Trump and Mike Pence have clearly articulated and initiated a hateful and dangerous agenda that they plan to pursue over and beyond mainstream acceptable American values after January 20-for example:
- Building a wall on the southern border with Mexico
- Mass deportations of undocumented migrants;
- Restricting the rights of women to reproductive health care, including abortion;
- Instituting a Muslim registry and threatening to stop all immigration from Muslim-majority countries;
- Backing out of the Paris Climate Treaty;
- Threatening the press;
- Implementing Stop and Frisk nationally;
- Re-starting the nuclear arms race.
Not only is this standing reprehensible and not acceptable mainly because citizens must always insist that the people have the right to judge of its merits. We (I) say now- A growing number of American Citizens now see this man’s (Donald Trump) agenda as dangerous and also as his, “Imperial Presidency,” is one that wants to use foreign and domestic issues to expand power. In doing so, the President-elect now wants to enjoy virtually unlimited power without checks and balances. The hideous denigration which has so no place in American public policy and is outside of the mainstream of public interest.
While these times are critical-I am pleased to see a certain spirit of inquiry currently coming from American Citizens is based upon the subject of the possibilities of any “new deal,” for consolidating any part the government of the United States, as recommended by the Trump conservative party. I would also go as far as to suggest to President Trump and his regime- If your planned initiatives are suitable to the habits of care for the citizens of these states, then those plans must be allowed to forgo the strictest scrutiny. If the public is not allowed to weigh in on any of the decisions through our democratic process-then it is possible as we have already suggested that those motives are ulterior.
We understand that historically, our U.S Presidential systems of government have been anything but stable. From Alaska to Asia, when the powers of Head of State and Head of Government are invested in a single person, as we find in nations with a Presidential system of government, eventually such governments have lead to a constitutional crisis. We ask the America public not to wait until that time. I would go so far as to say, we must openly resist this regime because they act outside of public interest.
For me this is the important clarion call of the moment. We would ask all to consider taking important four steps of for resolution: Continue Seeking advocacy on the ground, negotiation, advocate by media and social media, and direct action by protest. After speaking with the officials of Birmingham, King concluded that he needed to take action by leading the public demonstration. He doesn’t regret his decision, nor should we.
We must keep one important fact near to us.-stated by eloquently by The Great Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.
One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.”
