Think last week’s setback to Trump’s plan to throw out Obama care derailed the fascist juggernaut?
Think again.
On Tuesday Trump signed an order overturning the Clean Power Plan, a cornerstone of the Obama administration’s token attempts at containing or slowing climate change. Among other things, Trump’s measure allows for more coal powered power plants. Trump said to some coal miners, “You know what it says, right? You’re going back to work.” Even that probably isn’t true. More to the point: Trump’s measure signals an open season for corporate plunder of the earth and its resources, consequences be damned.
Coal mining is highly destructive. Waste from coal powered electrical plants is the single largest cause of pollution in the U.S. It poisons the earth and air. It shortens the lives of over a million people worldwide, every year. It consumes huge amounts of water when tens of millions of people worldwide suffer from dehydration and die. Trump is a shameless fascist ignoramus. His executive order enshrines destructive ignorance as the state policy of the most powerful country on earth.

Also on Tuesday, the top U.S. commander in Iraq admitted that the U.S. “probably had a role” in bombings that killed at least 200 civilians in Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq. “Probably”?!?! American commanders released an American bomber to obliterate a building in a densely populated area of a large city ravaged by months of bitter conflict. A Pentagon spokesman admitted “We know that we were dropping bombs in the immediate vicinity,” adding that the bombs used are “quite precise”. Hundreds of people were slaughtered; civilians, children, elderly people, people who were involved in nothing but a desperate struggle to survive. This is the kind of thing that by any rational, humane standard is called a war crime. Here are two important facts to consider: 1., civilian deaths in Iraq and Syria have gone to record highs in March; 2., Trump vowed repeatedly he would change the U.S. military’s “rules of engagement” to unfetter the military.
Accelerated environmental destruction. Mass murder of civilians. Trump is sending a clear message to the world: screw you. In the name of humanity, for the sake of the planet, the Trump/Pence fascist regime must be driven from power
