May 12 Refuse Fascism commends the graduates for courageously and with conviction booing and interrupting Education Secretary Betsy Devos’ commencement speech. The University invited her to speak and receive an Honorary degree despite the outrage from students that such an enemy of education would speak and their collection of tens of thousands of signatures to disinvite her.
Betsy DeVos has claimed that Historically Black Colleges and Universities were “pioneers of school choice” when the reality is that they were the product of brutal segregation. When faced with a leader of this fascist regimes who purports such dangerous notions and ruined their commencement, they righteously resisted. In the face of threats from University President, Edison O. Jackson students bravely turned their backs and remained firm. This is the response that any representative of this fascist regime should face wherever they go!
