One year into the Trump/Pence Regime, the words of RefuseFascism.org’s first Call to Action remain true: “The Trump/Pence Regime is a Fascist Regime. Not insult or exaggeration, this is what it is. For the future of humanity and the planet, we, the people, must drive this regime out.”
Every agonizing infuriating day since, this has been borne out. Every day, RefuseFascism.org has been working to bring forth the movement necessary to drive this regime from power.
On November 4, we mobilized 4,000 people in over 20 cities in the face of fascist threats broadcast on media and the internet. In 3 cities, our marches faced vicious armed fascists who came to threaten and possible harm those who dared to march with Refuse Fascism.
November 4 was a significant harbinger of what is needed: an inspiring day, the most significant demonstration to demand that the whole Trump/Pence Regime to be removed from power, but it did not launch the movement of mass continuing growing nonviolent protest that that was and is still needed if humanity is to stop the consolidation of fascism in the world’s most powerful superpower. There is work to be done, struggle to take up and you are needed.
This Sunday, at meetings in New York, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area, Tuesday in Chicago, and Wednesday in Seattle, we will dig into:
What is the character of the Trump/Pence Regime?
- Why only a movement of millions from below aimed at driving it from power can stop the nightmare it is imposing on humanity?
- What has been learned about the challenges we have run up against?
- How do we break through on those challenges?
- What are the next steps?
Bring your determination, your energy, your questions and thinking and be part of grappling with these questions and breaking through on them.
