Refuse Fascism carried out a bold and inspiring protest action at the U.S/Mexico border – San Ysidro Port of Entry on Saturday, January 12 at 2pm.
Their message: Trump’s Wall is a concentration of a program of ethnic cleansing, genocidal xenophobia, and a Fascist America, and refusing to call this out is normalization and collaboration with fascism. The regime must be driven out and this cannot be done by relying on these Democrats, only by relying on ourselves.
The protest featured a 100 foot banner which read: To the World’s Migrants and All of Humanity ~ We REFUSE To Accept A Fascist America! Trump/Pence Must Go! / Trump y Pence Tienen Que Largarse.
And, it featured a 25 foot banner lofted into the air with huge weather balloons with the demand Trump/Pence Must Go! translated into many of the world’s languages. The action was covered by TV stations in the U.S. and Mexico.

Refuse Fascism brought the message that Trump’s “Border Wall” is a Fascist Wall. A Nazi Wall. Trump’s multi-pronged attack on immigrants is a linchpin and battering ram of their larger fascist remaking of America. White supremacy, American chauvinism, and Trump’s “America First” is crashing over migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers. What happens in the U.S. in the face of this has implications for today’s 255 million migrants worldwide; indeed for all the world’s people.
Democrats tell us they agree with “border security” but this Border Wall is “a bit too expensive.” Leading Democrats Pelosi and Schumer are deafening in their silence when Trump attacks the migrant caravan from Central America. They say not one word defending these migrants and asylum-seekers. When they met with Trump in the Oval Office, what really happened? Over and over Pelosi and Schumer say “we agree, we agree” with need for border security ~ they’ve already agreed to give $1.3 for the Wall.

Right now, thousands of migrants are camped out at the border… 14,000 children languish in concentration camps… tear gas has been fired again at migrants in Mexico, this time on New Years Day by US Customs and Border Patrol agents… and now the government has been partially shut down by a white supremacist president out of his insistence that he get funding for a Fascist Border Wall.
We’re going to the U.S./Mexico border because we don’t need “border security” – what we need is a world without fascism, a world without Trump’s “Make America Great Again,” a world without Trump’s 21stcentury fascist program of Manifest Destiny – “America First” – wrapped in the flag and Mike Pence’s Bible taken literally, with a program of white supremacy, misogyny, and xenophobia.
There IS a way to accomplish removing the fascist Trump/Pence regime ~ a different kind of protest. As the Refuse Fascism’s Call to Action puts it: “… we need to organize now for the time when we can launch massive, sustained nonviolent protests in the streets of cities and towns across the country – protests that continue day after day and don’t stop, creating the kind of political situation in which the demand that the Trump/Pence regime be removed from power is met.”
We are organizing a movement to drive out the Trump/Pence regime and this planned action in San Ysidro, CA is part of this movement. Millions of people emigrating because of fear of persecution or for a decent life are not “bargaining chips” to barter over. Immigrants are human beings… and let’s be blunt, this fascist assault on immigrants and those who conciliate and collaborate with fascism degrade humanity.
People all over the world are counting on us to STOP this nightmare! The fascist consolidation of the Trump/Pence regime threatens all of humanity and it must be driven from power!
