“This IS Fascism: We Are Getting Back in the Streets to Say #OutNow”
Organizers with RefuseFascism.org who were the victims of a bear spray attack by people in MAGA hats last Saturday will be in the streets again this Saturday at MacArthur Park 2:00 pm with the single demand: Trump/Pence #OutNow. Their rally last Saturday at the Santa Monica pier was assaulted by an organized group with links to the Proud Boys and Latinos for Trump. WATCH this new video:
Speakers at the Press Conference will include students, Iraq war veterans, a Vietnam war veteran and targets of the attack. Also, in attendance, clergy and lawyers. Atlas Winfrey of Refuse Fascism LA and target of the attack: “This IS fascism in action, attempting to nip in the bud the mass protest that increasing numbers of people see is necessary. A line HAS TO BE drawn. And we all have to draw it. We are getting back in the streets to say #OutNow!” James Lafferty, Executive Director Emeritus, National Lawyers Guild, LA Chapter: “The growing number of similar attacks by Trump supporters is further evidence that the Trump Administration is driving the country down a road that ends in full, modern day Fascism.” Rev. Frank Wulf, Echo Park United Methodist Church: “We must stand up for those who were attacked in last weekend’s march and rally! If we don’t, it will set an incredibly dangerous and negative precedent that has a very real potential to create an ever more energized and violent suppression of those who place their bodies on the line to save humanity from the threat of a fascist America.” Bo Login, Iraq war vet and member of Refuse Fascism LA who was tackled and bear-sprayed in the eyes: “As an Iraqi war vet who has spoken out against U.S. crimes, I have been repeatedly targeted with violence and death threats. All this demonstrates so clearly the violence Trump/Pence regime is unleashing and why people should join us to prevent a fascist America.” Saturday’s protest is the continuation of the #OutNow movement which began on October 19. [On CNN’s Don Lemon Tuesday,] Cornel West (https://www.facebook.com/ Andy Zee, spokesperson for RefuseFascism.org, said at the New York march, that the “image of #OUTNOW that was in front of the Trump Tower has to be seen all over the world. This regime should not go on one day longer. 2020 is too late. We’re not here to follow that routine of assemble, march, go home and live your life. We have to get out and stay in the streets, disrupt business as usual, not only for ourselves but because humanity demands it.” |
