24 July For Immediate Release Saturday Protests: No Trump Gestapo Sweeping Up Protesters! No Terrorizing Black Communities, No Fascist Police StateTrump/Pence Out NOW!Boston 5:00 pm Davis Square, Sommerville MA RefuseFascism.org will be in the streets across the U.S. Saturday, protesting political repression and militarized white supremacy. Coco Das of the RefuseFascism.org Editorial Board, said today, “The Trump/Pence regime has sent in a federal occupying army into Portland to ‘quell’ ongoing protests. Overseen by the Department of Homeland Security and cobbled together from a number of federal agencies, including Customs & Border Patrol and the Coast Guard, these anonymous thugs in camouflage, looking virtually indistinguishable from right-wing militias, have seized the authority to kidnap protesters.” Trump is expanding the Department of Justice’s Operation Legend and Homeland Security’s Protecting America Communities Taskforce (PACT). Trump and Barr have accused the uprising for Black Lives and Sanctuary cities for the recent surge in murders, to justify sending his paramilitary nationwide – immediately to Kansas City, Chicago, Albuquerque, Cleveland, and Seattle followed by Detroit, Baltimore, and Milwaukee. He has also threatened New York City, Philadelphia, and Oakland. Carl Dix of the RefuseFascism.org Editorial Board, said, “Further terrorizing Black youth is a focal point of this effort. Trump has demonized Black youth for decades, calling for the execution of the Central Park 5 – 5 Black and brown youth railroaded into a conviction and later exonerated. Even after exoneration Trump continues to say that they should be in jail. In the midst of the current historic upsurge to hold police to account for murder, brutality and criminalization shaking loose local concessions, the Trump/Pence Regime seeks to reassert violent white supremacy and exact revenge on those who rose up.” “This is not ‘theater,’ it’s a serious attack on protests against police violence and white supremacy and a serious assault on basic political rights and the rule of law,” Das says. “It underscores the fascist character and program of the Trump/Pence regime, the danger of thinking fascism can simply be voted out, and the urgency of driving out the Trump/Pence regime though mass, sustained, non-violent political protest at the soonest possible moment.” — 30 — |
