Budlong Ave. Los AngelesHosted by Coalition for Community Control Over the Police, caravan4justice and 5 others, endorsed by Refuse Fascism LA Refuse Fascism LA will join the family and supporters of Dijon Kizzee for a demonstration and march led by the Coalition for Community Control Over the Police on the South L.A .Sheriff’s Station, starting at noon at 109th and Budlong to demand: “RefuseFascism.org will also be demanding Trump/Pence Out Now!” says Refuse Fascism organizer Chantelle Hershberger.“Trump claims that people who protest police violence and terror are the problem,” Hershberger says. “But we’re NOT the problem. The problem is that wanton terror direct at Black and other minority people, and rampant police violence against those who are demonstrating against it.” “Dijon Kizzee was murdered by LA County Sheriffs August 31 as he ran away and posed no threat to them. Since then, protesters non-violently demanding justice for Dijon have been repeatedly attacked, tear gassed and arrested by LA Sheriffs night after night since the first protest of his killing last Saturday,” Hershberger says. “Even children were tear gassed at a family-friendly protest for justice. And today Sheriffs brandishing weapons surrounded and threatened a press conference organized by the National Lawyers Guild of protesters who had been beaten by these same Sheriffs.” “Meanwhile the Sheriffs promote rightwing and pro-Trump voices like Joe Collins who support police brutality and protesters as ‘outside agitators,’ even as Dijon Kizzee’s family and supporters have made clear all are welcome in the struggle against injustice,” Hershberger states. “This violence by police that is championed, encouraged and glorified by Trump. And along with this violence, we see fascist thugs brandishing automatic weapons and attacking, even killing—yes, killing—demonstrators. This is FASCISM; and if Trump gets a second term, by hook or by crook, this real horror will go to another level,” Hersherberger says. “It’s a regime hellbent on imposing full-on fascism. It’s a nightmare for humanity. It must be driven from power through mass, sustained, non-violent political protest.
