The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!,” read the opening lines of a Pledge to the People of the World published as a full page ad in The New York Times on November 9th by RefuseFascism.org. The ad was designed by Shepard Fairey and signed by Cornel West, Noam Chomsky, Lilly Wachowski, Chuck D, Arturo O’Farrill, Jodie Sweetin, Alyssa Milano, Fat Mike and many more. Written before the projected election results, the authors and signers insist the pledge is more urgent and necessary than ever. Andy Zee, co-author of the Pledge and spokesperson for RefuseFascism.org, said, “The Trump/Pence campaign is filing multiple suits in courts that they have packed with reactionary judges up to the Supreme Court. Trump’s MAGA mobs are mobilized. Tens of millions voted for his fascist program that has tortured immigrants, unleashed white supremacist terror, exacerbated the climate crisis, spread lies and COVID, and stacked the courts with theocratic Christian fascists. The Republi-fascist Party is standing by Trump and is in control of the majority of state governments, as well as many of the courts—including the Supreme Court, which Trump has openly called on to support his claim of victory. Biden has rightfully been declared the winner of the election, but as long as the regime is still in power, with their followers are filled with passionate vengeance, they can still prevail through legal and extra-legal means.” By publishing this pledge now, Coco Das, co-author of the Pledge, has said, “The people must seize this moment and go all the way to driving this regime out and driving this fascist movement back and its hateful vicious program from every part of society.” The Pledge concludes: “We pledge our determination to prevail over a regime that imperils the people of the world and the earth itself.” Available for interview: Andy Zee is a co-initiator of Refuse Fascism, spokesperson for Revolution Books and host of The RNL – Revolution, Nothing Less – Show. He’s a follower of Bob Avakian and advocate for the new communism. A Pledge:In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America. The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go! We will speak, we will stand, we will shout and march. Together. Everyday. We Pledge: To stop a regime that imperils the people of the world and the earth itself We Demand Trump/Pence Out Now! We do not comply with a regime: putting targets on the backs of Black, brown, and Native people denying women control of their bodies We do not accept: a society ruled by hate and bigotry, ignorance and brutality, demeaning and cursing other peoples and countries and There can be: no more children torn from parents and locked in cages, no more fire and fury from the mouth of a demented bully No longer can we live with: howling mobs resurrecting Jim Crow We will not worship the flag or accept a theocracy. 4 more years, and it could be too late to change the course of history as the Trump/Pence regime sabotages the election and drags Here and Now, we pledge to unite in our millions rising together in nonviolent resistance to stop a great horror. We pledge to stay in the streets, overcoming fear and uncertainty, until this American fascism is brought to a halt. We pledge our determination to prevail over a regime that imperils the people of the world and the earth itself. In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America. |
