July 27th is the day Trump’s unlawful executive order ending birthright citizenship can be enforced in 28 states. This is a blatant attack on the 14th Amendment, the rule of law, and the rights and lives of immigrants.
In the first days of his rule, Trump issued an executive order stripping away the fundamental right to Birthright Citizenship – in blatant violation of the U.S. Constitution, causing anguish and agonizing danger for millions of immigrant and refugee families.
Birthright citizenship means that every person born in the United States automatically becomes a citizen of the United States. This is written into the 14th Amendment of the Constitution and was won after the Civil War to grant citizenship to formerly enslaved people.
On June 27, the Supreme Court sided with the Trump regime’s ridiculous challenge to nationwide injunctions on Trump’s executive order. Birthright citizenship is a part of the Constitution, and stripping anyone of that right based on the legal status of their parents is a blatant violation of the 14th Amendment.
Starting July 27, as families are being ripped apart with immigrant parents and children being dragged off city streets by ICE gestapo, thousands of newborn children could be rendered stateless for an indefinite period of time. We are well on the road to an all-out fascist America where nobody has any Constitutional rights, while the ability of the courts to halt unlawful edicts has been greatly curtailed. All this furthers the terrorizing, demonization and the Gestapo-like disappearing of immigrants.
NO! This is fascism, and we do not have much time to stop it.
What is urgently needed now…from A Call to Conscience, Call to Act.
Millions in the streets not allowing business as usual when that business is cementing fascist rule with the vilest degrading morality down our throats. MANY VOICES AND BODIES DEMANDING: THE TRUMP FASCIST REGIME MUST GO! With this we can and must create a political crisis in which the Trump regime cannot govern and implement their fascist program or even maintain his hold on power.
