Good Protest Hygiene: Don’t Talk to Fascists

# Out Now! Is a movement to demand the Trump/Pence regime must go NOW.  Attacks on protests 1) underscore that what is advancing in America is fascism – the Trump/Pence regime ruling with a fanatical base mobilized to create mayhem; and 2) what it is that they fear most – the people mobilized with passion and conviction.

Lessons learned

  1. These are organized fascists: the extralegal shock troops aiming to violently enforce Trump’s fascist program. These are some of the hard core white supremacists who organized Charlottesville, and who show up, often armed, to terrorize and intimidate protest including those demanding Trump/Pence OUTNOW. They include but are not limited to “the Proud Boys,” an alt-right group that admits only men and is organized to instigate disruption and carry out violence. And “Latinos for Trump” that has disrupted city councils throughout California opposing sanctuary cities. These are serious threats.
  2. In addition to just outright attacks on protests, these groups also have a method of operation which is to enter into peaceful rallies in the guise of being journalists, then to taunt people with misogynistic and racial slurs, or the use of bullhorns with sirens or shoving and pushing – all meant to in their own words to “trigger” a physical response – which they then use to claim to be victims who have the right to “defend themselves” and to inflict violence and injury.

How to counter this

  1. Do not talk to or engage with them in anyway, do not get drawn into being interviewed or the trap of appeals to dialogue. Do not allow them to provoke you.
  2. Use your phone to document their attempts to disrupt or harm others. Send your footage to [email protected]
  3. Get to know the people around you, and work together to keep each other safe and to keep our march on message. Listen to the MC’s and monitors for direction. Help each other and use your phone to record and document just as people have been doing with police brutality. Reality and facts are a deterrent and defense.

RefuseFascism Mission Statement

July 2021

RefuseFascism.org exposes, analyzes, and stands against the very real danger and threat of fascism coming to power in this country. Seventy-four million people voted for Trump in 2020. The Republi-fascist Party has been purged of dissenting voices. The mass fascist movement has hardened in the wake of their January 6 coup attempt. Fascist initiatives around restricting voting, immigration and abortion rapidly advance in statehouses across the country. The election of Biden has not eliminated the danger, it has only bought some time. … READ AND SHARE THE ENTIRE MISSION STATEMENT
