An Official Statement from the Refuse Fascism National Leadership Board

On August 16, Nathalie Jones was interviewed and arrested by Secret Service for allegedly posting threats against Donald Trump on her social media.

Earlier that afternoon she participated in the rally and march “No Fascist Takeover of DC” organized by Refuse Fascism, and was filmed and photographed by the media holding the lead Refuse Fascism banner. The Editorial Board of Refuse Fascism issued the following statement of clarification.

RefuseFascism.org’s Statement on the arrest of Nathalie Jones for allegedly threatening the life of the President of the United States:

  1. RefuseFascism.org established and has maintained non-violence as a fundamental foundational principle since its formation in December 2016. And, we have never violated that principle and we propagate it on our website, in printed material and public speeches.
  2. All of Refuse Fascism’s protests are open to the public and we do not screen, interrogate, or discriminate those who attend. We expect and insist on non-violence as a principle and practice by all who attend.
  3. Nathalie Jones, along with 2500 other people, attended the protest in Washington DC on August 16, 2025 called by Refuse Fascism.

What she allegedly said to US security officials and her ruminations that media reports alleged that she posted on her social media do not represent the views or the activities of Refuse Fascism.  We have also learned through the media that she has said she suffers from mental illness. We hope that, as with every person in this country, she will be able to receive the medical treatment and the legal representation she requires.

IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA!

NOW IS the TIME WHEN WE MUST RISE UP and ACT to STOP the CONSOLIDATION of TRUMP MAGA FASCISM. For the lives of people here and around the world we must refuse unlawful and inhumane orders… we must fill the streets and town squares in non-violent protest—not stopping until we become millions — not relenting until this regime is no longer able to implement its program or maintain its hold on power.
