Boston Detention Center – Shut it Down!

Thaís Marques, Cosecha

With just one week until May 1st, we are saying no to detention and deportation. We are saying “not this time” to the intimidation tactics of ICE against those who speak out.

We are confronting the splitting apart of families, the needless criminalization of entire communities, and we are demanding permanent protection and dignity for all immigrants. We are shutting down the system where it lives: in our policing, in our court systems, and in our detention centers. Over the past several weeks, we have seen example after example of how ICE’s intimidation tactics know no bounds.

Alex Carrillo is a father and a farmworker who was taken by ICE for standing up for his rights.

Maribel Diaz is a mother of four who was deported after 15 years working for this country, separated from her family.

Juan Manuel Montes is a student — protected by DACA — who thought the promises of this country would apply to him, but was still deported.

Today in Boston, 50 people are shutting down an ICE detention center.

On May 1st, hundreds of thousands of people will shut down their workplaces, businesses and their schools as they show the country’s dependence on immigrant consumption and labor.

Hasta la huelga,

Thaís and the whole Cosecha team

IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA!

NOW IS the TIME WHEN WE MUST RISE UP and ACT to STOP the CONSOLIDATION of TRUMP MAGA FASCISM. For the lives of people here and around the world we must refuse unlawful and inhumane orders… we must fill the streets and town squares in non-violent protest—not stopping until we become millions — not relenting until this regime is no longer able to implement its program or maintain its hold on power.
