Close to 100 people came out in Cleveland for “Pink Out the Night,” to protest the Trump/Pence Regime’s efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.The crowd was diverse, and very spirited! Young people and older veterans of the struggle for reproductive rights came out. Many testified about how Planned Parenthood had saved peoples’ lives, and that without it, women will die for not having access to basic health care, including cancer screenings.
Earlier that evening, many of us had heard that one of the major abortion clinics in Cleveland had been vandalized repeatedly in the last 3 weeks! All of this increases the urgency to stand up on July 15 to say “The Trump?Pence Regime Must Go!”
Several of us from Refuse Fascism joined the protest. We had the NO signs as well as signs promoting July 15, and many people there want to be involved in building a huge outpouring of people for July 15. Everyone got the fliers for July 15, and some people put on the NO! stickers on their pink Planned Parenthood shirts. A young man from Refuse Fascism spoke about how the cuts in Planned Parenthood are part of the fascist program and called on people to get involved in July 15th. What he said was well received.
