Protests Across the Country Demand NO WAR ON IRAN!

Chicago

On Saturday, January 4, thousands of people in many cities all across the country – the New York Times is reporting protests were called for 80 places – took to the streets to demand: NO WAR ON IRAN!

Philadelphia

These protests had been planned by a coalition of anti-war groups before Trump’s recent egregious act of war against Iran, but they took on greater urgency and they swelled in numbers and determination as news of Trump’s drone-strike assassination against a high ranking Iranian general shocked people everywhere.

Times Square, NYC

People of all ages, including many who had protested U.S. wars going back to Vietnam as well as significant numbers of young people of many backgrounds, turned out in anger and fear.

Outside the White House

Many speakers denounced – and many attending the protests learned about more deeply for the first time – the history of unjust wars and bloodshed the U.S. has inflicted on the people of Iran and others in the Middle East going back decades.

RefuseFascism.org was proud to join these protests and to stand with everyone else who took to the streets against a new war on Iran. We were heartened by how enthusiastically people joined in chanting, “Humanity First, Not America First!” and how deeply the demand we brought in, “Trump/Pence #OUTNOW!” resonated with and was takenup by many who turned out in the streets.

In Chicago, the protest flooded the streets and shut down parts of Lake Shore Drive. Hundreds marched to Trump Hotel in Washington, DC. We will be posting more reports as we compile them from around the country.

IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA!

NOW IS the TIME WHEN WE MUST RISE UP and ACT to STOP the CONSOLIDATION of TRUMP MAGA FASCISM. For the lives of people here and around the world we must refuse unlawful and inhumane orders… we must fill the streets and town squares in non-violent protest—not stopping until we become millions — not relenting until this regime is no longer able to implement its program or maintain its hold on power.
