“The confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court is illegitimate and must be stopped,” says RefuseFascism.org co-initiator Sunsara Taylor from Washington, DC.
“Not only would her confirmation create a majority on the court hostile to the rights of women, LGBTQ people, immigrants, voters, and more, her confirmation is part of Donald Trump’s plan to steal the upcoming election. He has said openly that he wants the court filled and ready to throw the election to him,” Taylor states.
“With all this at stake, we refuse to accept her confirmation as a ‘done deal,'” Taylor emphasizes.
“Dressed as Handmaids, reflecting the theocratic fascist nightmare Coney Barrett’s nomination concentrates, we demand this confirmation be stopped,” says Taylor. “We protest to make clear that, if this confirmation does go forward, it is stamped with illegitimacy in the eyes of the world. In doing so, we’re building our organized strength and working toward calling forward even greater numbers of people in mass, nonviolent protest in the days ahead to stop Trump’s efforts to secure a second term by hook or by crook.”
