There is no electoral road to stopping Trump from locking in a fully fascist Supreme Court with Brett Kavanaugh. People must step outside normal political channels, protest, refuse to accept a fascist America, and drive out this regime!
The nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court is a move to…
- Lock in a Supreme Court that will bulldoze any and all speedbumps to the Trump/Pence fascist agenda. Kavanaugh’s views are “distinguished” by arguing for extending the limits of unchecked presidential power, including that the president should be able to fire any special prosecutor who is “out to get him.” And Kavanaugh argued there should be a law “exempting a President-while in office-from criminal prosecution and investigation, including from questioning by criminal prosecutors or defense counsel.”
- Stack the Supreme Court with “originalists” who demand the Constitution of the U.S. be upheld as written. That Constitution enshrined slavery, genocide, and denied any rights to women.
- Add a “Justice” vetted by the reactionary Federalist Society, determined to eviscerate Roe v. Wade.
- Stack the court with someone vetted by the Mike Pence / Christian fundamentalist lunatic movement whose holy grail is ending all legal abortion.
- Pack the SCOTUS with a nominee vetted by these same Christian fascists who have called for LGBTQ people to be subjected to the psychological torture of “Gay Conversion Therapy.”
- Lock in a SCOTUS that is totally compliant with the Trump/Pence regime’s frenzied evisceration of environmental protections, worker safety regulations, and any checks on corporate buying of elections.
- Set in place a SCOTUS that will sign off on the ongoing disenfranchisement of Black voters and fixing elections for the Republicans long into the future.
- Ensure a Court that upholds the binge of new, draconian state laws that attack the right to protest and encourage fascists to assault and even kill protesters, and knock down hurdles to the regime’s attacks on immigrants and civil liberties that are placed in its way by lower courts.
