When the decent people of Los Angeles began agitating against the ICE/Gestapo raids, Trump deployed the military to occupy Los Angeles.
For those unfamiliar…On June 6, a group of protesters in LA tried to block ICE agents from detaining immigrants working at a local retail store. Despite the activists’ efforts, the ICE agents were unfortunately able to detain the immigrants. Later that night, in response, a non-violent anti-detention protest took place outside an LA federal building. They were met by police in riot gear.
The next day, protests spread to other suburbs in the LA area. At 6 pm, Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth announced that the California National Guard (and eventually, the U.S. MARINES) were being deployed to LA, despite objections from the mayor and governor of California, using this military occupation as a sandbox and laboratory to crush the hold of sanctuary cities and states across America. It is very important that the people continue to stand up to this.
The faces of the immigrants who have been disappeared by ICE remind us that behind every statistic are hundreds of names, thousands of stories, and millions of parents, partners and children left behind following each disappearance. We are FIGHTING not for numbers, but for people with lives, dreams, and families! This also poignantly illustrates why, IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, THE TRUMP FASCIST REGIME MUST GO NOW, to prevent further consolidation of the MAGA fascist agenda.
The brave people in L.A. have stepped up—immigrants and allies standing shoulder to shoulder, braving tear gas and rubber bullets, to stop ICE raids, block deportations, and say no to military occupation. This mass non-violent defiance must grow in size and determination and DEMAND that Trump Must Go Now! The fighting spirit must spread—across the city, across the country—to everyone who refuses to live in a fascist America.
