Outrage and Resistance on Martin Luther King,Jr Day 2018

Across the country, Martin Luther King day was marked by outrage and protest over an overtly and obscenely white supremacist president, and anger over Trump’s dehumanizing attacks on immigrants. In many places Refuse Fascism was in the mix.


January 15, 2018: Times Square

New York City:

MLK Day rally in Times Square drew a thousand Haitian immigrants and others who marched against the ending of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and Trump’s move deport tens of thousands of Haitians, along with his degrading insults against on Haitians, as well as Central Americans and Africans.

In Brooklyn, hundreds joined an MLK Day march called by a number of Arab and Arab-American organizations.

Palm Beach: Haitian Community Confronts Trump

Trump flew to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Flordia to golf in Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. He was confronted by several hundred Haitians chanting “What do we want? APOLOGY! When do we want it? NOW!
