Why should you march together in a contingent united on the slogan, “NO! In the Name of Humanity We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America! Drive Out The Trump/Pence Regime”?
Because, as important as the mission of each of the marches happening between April 22 and May 1st, it is simply a fact that unless and until the Trump/Pence Regime is driven from power, it will continue to launch new and highly repressive attacks on the people, remaking the law and eventually clamping down on all of society. It is also a fact that the only way this whole fascist regime could be driven out is if millions and millions go into the streets demanding this, refusing to stop, night after night and day after day. For millions to move in this way, thousands must become firmly committed to this goal and capable of organizing and leading others.
NEW – Chant Sheet for Refuse Fascism Contingents (Check back for more)
By marching with Refuse Fascism, under the slogan “Drive Out the Trump/Pence Regime – In the Name of Humanity,” you become part of letting others know that there is an organization that is uniting and organizing people to take up this mission. This will have an impact on everyone in these marches, bringing to them the message that this is a fascist regime, and that all the things they are concerned about with Trump/Pence in power are only going to get far worse if this regime is not driven out very soon. We aim to grow in numbers from the March for Science on April 22 through the Holocaust Remembrance Day on April 24, the People’s Climate March on April 29th and in the immigrants’ rights protests on May 1st to strengthen that organized force and its ability to attract many thousands more.
Whether this is your first protest or you have been in the streets a lot, making the decision to march with the Refuse Fascism contingents in these marches means strengthening the organized movement to avert the catastrophe for humanity represented by the fascist Trump/Pence Regime.
What is needed to have a strong contingent that can convey this message in the most powerful way?
Be well-organized and hold your group together. If possible, have an advance team bring signs and materials, ready to meet people arriving at the rally/march. Have chants and materials that everyone can take up (a chant sheet will be posted soon at RefuseFascism.org). At the same time, be open and welcoming to new people who want to march with the contingent.
We need:
- contingent captains who are responsible for making sure that the contingent stays organized and keeps on message overall. 2-3 people.
- Monitors to lead chants and keep up the esprit de corps. If possible, they should each have a bullhorn.
- Outreach teams that take Refuse Fascism signs and materials out to the other contingents and participants in the march, spreading the NO! and Refuse Fascism signs to others. These teams should also have sign up sheets and Organizing Kits to give to people who want to get involved in the movement to drive out the Trump/Pence Regime.
** If people are traveling together by bus or car to the march site, this is an important opportunity to involve everyone in discussion about the message and the objectives we have– and how we want to reach out to many others to be part of RefuseFascism.org at the marches.
** Organize your friends to watch the RefuseFascism National Livestream teach-in on April 27:
Fascism in America: Could it Happen Here? Is it Happening Here? What is the Danger that the Trump/Pence Government Poses? Go to www.refusefascism.org for info and to watch.
