Donald Trump, Jr Met With Protest at UCLA Demanding Trump/Pence #OUTNOW!
Interviews with UCLA students and organizers available
Donald Trump, Jr. launched his book at UCLA Sunday, met by a protest of over 100 people, including students from UCLA and surrounding campuses.
RefuseFascism.org organized this protest demanding #OUTNOW, a movement calling for sustained mass non-violent protest, in the streets until the demand is met: Trump/Pence #OUTNOW! The month of weekly protests will culminate on November 16 in cities across the country.
In Los Angeles, the protest will take place in MacArthur Park, 2:00 pm.
“We cannot wait until 2020.” said Atlas Winfrey, an organizer with Refuse Fascism, “We need to be in the streets the way they’ve done in countries around the world: continuing protests until the Trump/Pence regime is removed from power.”
“Trump Jr’s book, ‘Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us’ is an inversion of reality.” said Winfrey. “Junior is an attack dog for the Trump/Pence fascist regime which is terrorizing immigrants, attacking the press, and threatening to jail their political opposition. But, using a time-tested fascist maneuver, his book paints the aggressors as the aggrieved. Junior claims it is the progressive movements preparing for civil war when in fact it is Trump speaking to stadiums at Nuremburg style rallies where elected Republican politicians are whipping up the crowds with calls for civil war. It is Trump re-tweeting Neo-Nazi and white supremacist theories of racial displacement – many of them spread first by Donald Trump Jr.”
Trump Jr was forced to end his event early, canceling the Q&A. Winfrey explained, “Trump Jr’s event was a debacle because it was disrupted by fascists critical that Trump is not ethnically cleansing the country of ALL non-white immigrants and only going after the undocumented immigrants. This should sound an alarm on the degree to which a fascist student movement is gaining ground on US campuses.”
In the announcement for this protest, Refuse Fascism wrote: “Junior is coming [to UCLA] to defend an American form of fascism: Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ is a 21st century fascist program of Manifest Destiny – ‘America First’ – wrapped in the flag and Mike Pence’s Bible taken literally. A specifically American culmination of white supremacy, misogyny, and xenophobia.”
Protesters met the MAGA chants of “USA! USA!,” with the response, “Humanity First” and “Don’t tell us it can’t happen here, don’t tell us wait another year, Trump/Pence Out Now!”
