On May 1, Refuse Fascism organized social distancing, but heroic actions across the country to counter pro-Trump, white supremacist, anti-science so-called “ReOpen America” rallies – some of which included armed fascist militias. In strark contrast, and literally in the face of howling fascist mobs, Refuse Fascism called out the ways in which the Trump/Pence regime is using the COVID-19 crisis to intensify persecution of immigrants, subject prisoners to extreme risks, and on top of all that, to advance moves drastically change how society is ruled – to implement fascism. Once in power fascism essentially eliminates traditional democratic rights. Refuse Fascism brought the message “In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America” and “Trump Pence #OUTNOW!” Other movements and groups also held counter-actions demanding protection for essential workers, prisoners and immigrants in concentration camps.
