Let’s make sure that when Attorney General Jeff Sessions speaks to law enforcement, attacking sanctuary cities and perpetuating the myth that immigrants are the source of the violent crime he doesn’t go unopposed. Join us in protesting his speech in Philadelphia and the fascist program he represents.
Who is Jeff Sessions? Why Is He Coming to Philadelphia?
As part of the Trump Regime and as a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan, Mr. Sessions is leading the charge towards Black Genocide and the criminalization of immigrants.
He has made moves to expand mass incarceration; give the police an even more unrestricted hand to harass, brutalize, and murder; and support the increased power of ICE and the Border Patrol. Sessions is targeting Sanctuary cities (like Philadelphia) who his administration deems as “defying the law” by not turning undocumented immigrants into ICE.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions has called for maximum charges and penalties for non-violent drug offenders, reversing the policies that had reduced them. Sessions has put a halt on consent decrees with cities that aim to address some of the most egregious police abuses, such as Baltimore. He announced the proposal of “Back the Blue Act” which would make it harder to sue for damages for unjustified police violence; turn even minor, often nonexistent, assaults on police into federal crimes with severe mandatory minimum sentences; and expand the federal death penalty to cover killings of police.
Our Plan
On Friday, we will be standing up against the xenophobia and racism of Sessions and the entire Trump/Pence regime. We will be speaking truth to the lies he perpetuates that those who are undocumented immigrants are criminals, that the cities who provide sanctuary are bastions of crime, and putting forward the full humanity of those in the crosshairs. This regime must be driven from power and they must not be able to speak anywhere unopposed.
