Refuse Fascism (RefuseFascism.org)
is on a mission to unite all who can be united into the largest nonviolent mass mobilization in US history to drive out the Trump Fascist Regime – a regime that threatens humanity’s very future. We are serious about bringing forward the only force that has a chance of defeating Trump/MAGA fascism – the people in our tens of millions acting together, flooding the streets in nonviolent protest, refusing to stop until Trump and his regime are removed from power.
We have initiated a new call to action, welcoming every individual and organization that cares about the future of humanity to get to DC on November 5 and launch a sustained nonviolent mobilization to demand the removal of the regime.

Throughout 2025, as the regime shredded the rule of law, deployed military on U.S. streets, disappeared immigrants, and issued brutal fascist edicts, Refuse Fascism has led rallies and marches of thousands in the streets of DC and nationwide, disturbing the air of fear, silence, and complicity with the demand Trump Must Go Now. This has begun to change the way people are understanding the danger and how to stop it. Following a crucial march we led in DC on June 14 – on the day of Trump’s fascist military parade – Rachel Maddow announced on her show that she was “wrong” about the need and possibility of people showing up to protest in DC in the face of Trump’s threats against protesters.
Refuse Fascism is led by a national leadership group and powered by a national network of volunteer local organizers and chapters.
Our podcast, hosted by Sam Goldman, has forged relationships with leading scholars, activists, writers, and others on the nature and direction of 21st century American fascism and what must be done to defeat it.
We collaborate with faith leaders, academics, artists, and grassroots organizations committed to defeating fascism in this country.
ORIGIN AND BRIEF HISTORY
Founded by Andy Zee, Sunsara Taylor, Cornel West, and others in the wake of Trump’s first election in 2016, Refuse Fascism recognized early that this was not just another administration. Trump had galvanized a fascist movement based on vicious white supremacy, hatred of women and LGBT people, immigrant-bashing “America First” xenophobia – with a leading core of Christian theocrats and backed by violent mobs of “proud boys” and others.
Prominent voices, including actors, directors, producers, musicians, authors, and clergy, partnered with Refuse Fascism to amplify the call for sustained resistance to stop the Trump regime from consolidating power.
We published statements in the New York Times, the Nation, and other outlets that were signed by Cornel West, Noam Chomsky, Chuck D, Lilly Wachowski, Alyssa Milano, and thousands of others.
Since our founding in 2016, we have consistently raised the slogan: NO! IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY, WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT A FASCIST AMERICA! Our signs and banners were seen by millions through media and social media and were ubiquitous in mass protests led by us and others. And in the weeks leading up to and immediately following the January 6 riots, we mobilized against Trump’s rolling coup as he tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Our analysis that Trump represents a leap in fascism has been borne out to be true over and over again – with the danger and stakes for humanity now exponentially greater. We have come to a crucial turning point. Either this regime will lock in its power and a nightmare for humanity, or we in our millions will drive the regime out. What is Fascism?
Fascism is a qualitative change in how society is governed. Fascism foments and relies on xenophobic nationalism, racism, misogyny, and the aggressive re-institution of oppressive “traditional values.” Fascist mobs and threats of violence are unleashed to build the movement and consolidate power. What is crucial to understand is that once in power fascism essentially eliminates traditional democratic rights. History has shown that fascism must be stopped before it becomes too late.
