Whatever happens on Election Day and in the following weeks of counting and certifying . . . the Trump Fascist Regime will likely bludgeon their way to hold on to power, ramming fascism down our throats. THIS WE MUST NOT ALLOW.
Attacks on the people and our rights must be resisted, raising the righteous and necessary demand: “Trump Must Go Now!” Now is the time to organize and struggle for masses of people to take this demand up — preparing for massive sustained nonviolent protest that could develop soon. Only this has the potential to create the kind of nationwide political crisis that could lead to the regime’s removal, before it’s too late.
THIS IS FASCISM
In the grotesque form of Donald Trump and his vicious conglomeration of Nazi-saluting strategists and shock troops, a fascist regime is hammering its rule into place. Fascism is a different form of rule that uses open terror and brute force to crush people’s rights and their freedom to resist.
The Trump Fascist Regime is shredding the rule of law. Making a mockery of due process. Refusing to accept the peaceful transfer of power. Illegitimately deploying the military on U.S. soil. Disappearing immigrants and other brown-skinned people into brutal concentration camps. Aggressively resurrecting genocidal white supremacy. Reversing the gains not only of the 1960s, but even of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Enslaving women through the brutality and suffocation of forced motherhood. Erasing LGBT people. Trampling democratic rights. Violating international law. Assaulting and threatening politicians and judges. Paving the way for boundless terror against the people. Accelerating climate collapse. Cutting science and medicine, costing millions of lives. Depleting humanity’s store of knowledge. Destroying truth. Drowning out reason. Subjugating the arts to fascist cruelty and conformity. Waging an illegal and escalating war on Iran that endangers the future of humanity. Targeting everything that is decent, moral and good. All at the whim of a debased lunatic tyrant.
THERE IS NO LIVING WITH THIS FASCISM. IT MUST BE DRIVEN FROM POWER.
What happens in the coming weeks and months could shape the future for generations. A fascist regime at the helm of the most powerful country in the world is consolidating its brutal rule. In the minds of these fascists, the Trump MAGA movement has come too far to allow an election, or any opposition, to stop them now.
This is no ordinary administration to wait out. These fascists are fighting tooth and nail to impose a fascist America on the people of this country and the world – to sit atop a world order in which white supremacy, patriarchal authority, Christian nationalism, and a “renewed” American empire with “maximum lethality” – crushes all challenges and obstacles in their path.
To lock in their nightmare, the old rules and restraints must be ripped away, INCLUDING the consensus that political opponents can legitimately hold office and that power must be surrendered when elections are lost. For them, this is an existential battle: over the kind of society that is allowed to exist, over who will rule it, and even over who is seen as a human being with any rights worth respecting. Every accommodation gives them more room to impose a future humanity cannot afford to live with. For humanity, stopping them is an existential necessity.
And this danger does not stop at America’s borders. The regime’s war on Iran and threats of even wider destruction are bound up with its drive to rule through brute force, at home and abroad. Setbacks abroad could drive the regime to lash out even harder at home and provide pretext for more repression. But wars and upheavals around the world could also shake the regime’s grip. What happens in the world and what happens here will affect each other—with enormous consequences for whether this fascism becomes more firmly entrenched or faces a crisis that could bring it down.
Every setback gives this regime new urgency to lock fascism into place. Growing public hatred does not make Trump retreat. He lashes out, while his fascist movement cheers on intimidation and violence. Powerful forces have staked their future on this fascist transformation. They must be driven from power by the power of the people.
ELECTION DAY AND AFTER: WHAT HAPPENS IF THE FASCISTS FACE DEFEAT OR A SETBACK?
Even a blue wave will not make this fascism disappear.
Trump never accepted his 2020 defeat. He made election denial a test of Republican loyalty. Trump is already challenging results before a single vote is counted.
Trump has already pushed Congress aside—even with Republican majorities. His regime rules by decree, purging public servants and installing loyalists throughout government to tear down restraints on his power. The Supreme Court has granted him sweeping immunity for official acts. We cannot sit back and wait to see what it hands him next.
With all of this, do you really expect Trump to accept results that threaten his power, or a Trump-stacked Supreme Court to stop him, or Trump’s obedience to a decision that rules against him?
What happens when electoral defeat collides with the fascists’ determination to impose their vision? Will they suddenly respect limits that threaten their whole project—or fight even harder to tear those limits down?
Absent a mass movement to drive Trump out, he will be allowed to continue to run roughshod over the people of the world. What we do matters. No one is coming to save us.
THE FORCE THAT MUST ACT
Attempts to suppress votes, overturn results, or block elected representatives from taking office could force millions to see this regime for what it is. This, or another step too far by the regime, could awaken a sleeping giant, with millions pouring into the streets in sustained, determined, nonviolent resistance. Defending the vote could become an urgent battleground. Such a struggle must reach the source of the danger: The Trump Fascist Regime Must Go. Not in 2028. Now.
Whatever happens at the polls, prepare to resist attempts to lock fascism into place—and seize openings to drive this regime out. Even impeachment and conviction would take enormous pressure from below to compel and enforce removal.
A WAY TO DEFEAT THIS FASCISM
There is no way to stop and reverse this fascist consolidation without sustained mass struggle from below.
This means millions filling the streets and town squares—in sustained, mass, nonviolent protest. Thousands refusing to comply in every institution. Every person of conscience, all of us together nonviolently to grind the machinery of the fascist regime to a halt.
Many voices, many backgrounds, one unifying demand: THE WHOLE TRUMP FASCIST REGIME MUST GO NOW!
Not by waiting for politicians, judges, or generals to save us. But by building a nonviolent movement so powerful, so determined, and so widespread that it changes what those in power are compelled to act—and what becomes possible.
When millions refuse to go along, it can change what happens among those at the top. Divisions within government and other powerful institutions could deepen. People in positions of power who have gone along with Trump could face mounting pressure to break with him. Some could openly oppose the regime. Conflicts over whether and how the regime can continue to rule could break into the open.
The regime’s response to such a political earthquake from below could further erode their legitimacy in the eyes of the world. A growing nonviolent mass movement, along with other political crises, can overwhelm the regime’s ability to maintain its grip on power.
This will require sacrifice. No outcome is guaranteed. But history is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. It is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined.
