“America 250: NO to Whitewashing History”

Where: Outside the National Museum of African American History and Culture, at the corner of 15th and Madison NW, Washington DC.
As celebrations kick off this week in Washington DC, RefuseFascism.org is gathering people of conscience outside the National Museum of African American History and Culture on July 1 to declare “America 250: NO to Whitewashing History.”
America at 250 is ruled by a fascist regime which has bludgeoned truth, attacked academic freedom, and purged government institutions of words and historical scholarship they don’t like – transforming these institutions into instruments of fascist repression that silence dissenting voices and support their alternative-fact-fueled version of history. This erasure will be on full display during Trump’s July 4th celebrations – rewriting the past in order to dominate the future.
Sam Goldman, a national leader with RefuseFascism.org, says “The Trump/MAGA fascists seek to suppress and whitewash the real history of this country while celebrating and resurrecting the legacy of genocide, slavery, patriarchy, and imperialist conquest. They seek to impose an official mythology of unquestioned American greatness while criminalizing dissent, censoring educators and artists, reshaping museums and federal institutions, and conditioning millions to see critical thought itself as dangerous or un-American.”
The July 1 event will also include an announcement of Refuse Fascism’s plans for a July 4 rally and march. This is a time when the demand: “Trump Must Go Now!” needs to be seen, heard and felt everywhere.
Refuse Fascism is building a movement across the country that is clear on the problem—Trump fascism—and uniting all who can be united to stop it through mass, nonviolent struggle demanding TRUMP MUST GO NOW.
