Friday night in Alabama Donald Trump spoke at a campaign rally. If you closed your eyes and just listened, you could have sworn you were at a Klan lynch mob. Trump called the overwhelmingly Black athletes who have kneeled during pregame playing of the national anthem “sons of bitches” who should be fired.
The response from many athletes was immediate, and righteous. LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kobe Bryant, Chiney Ogumwike, Draymond Green and many others denounced Trump. At the Global Citizen concert in Central Park, Stevie Wonder took a knee.
Everybody knows what this is about. Trump unleashes his fury upon Black people who don’t bow and scrape and act “grateful” for the racism embedded in this society and enflamed by his regime. He calls white supremacists “fine people”.
But here’s the question. What are YOU going to DO?
This is a nightmare. It’s not going to end until we stop it. Everyone who wants to put an end to this nightmare – Sunday and this week get out everywhere in support of Colin Kaepernick, Steph Curry and others Trump is attacking. At games, in churches, at schools. Take a knee. Hold up a sign: This Nightmare MUST END! The Trump/Pence Regime Must GO! November 4, it Begins!
