Certain right wing groups identifying themselves as “patriots” and supporters of Donald Trump have made open threats via social media that they plan to come to May 1st protests In New York today with the intention of attacking protestors they identify as anti-fascist. One such group spoke of their plans as “May Day Slay.” Some of them have specifically named Refuse Fascism as one of the groups they plan to attack.
Refuse Fascism is a national organization that is opposed to the fascist Trump/Pence regime, and whose stated goal is to drive out the Trump/Pence regime by calling on the millions in this country who refuse to accept a fascist America to come into the streets demanding that this fascist regime no longer be in power. Refuse Fascism is participating in May 1st political protests today across the country in support of and solidarity with immigrants and all those people who are being vilified and persecuted by the Trump/Pence regime. If there are any violent incidents involving these self-proclaimed “patriots” who have made these threats, it needs to be clear that these arise from pre-planned attacks by these forces and that those who are attacked in this manner have the right to defend themselves.
