Thousands across the country joined May Day rallies and marches and an “economic blackout” calling for no school, no work, no shopping. According to The Guardian, “This year many active movements converged to demand No ICE and no war and taxing the rich.” In several cities, Refuse Fascism made sure that the demand Trump Must Go Now would not be missed, with huge banners, bold banner drops, yard signs, and placards held by people in the crowds. This was vitally important, especially following the week long rampage of the Trump regime and its enablers that gutted the Voting Rights Act (through the Supreme Court decision in Louisiana v Callais); halted the distribution of the abortion drug mifepristone; more genocidal threats against Iran; the re-indictment of James Comey in a deliberate act of retribution, and so much more. Thousands of people got the Refuse Fascism statement In the Name of Humanity, Trump Must Go Now. The World Is Counting On Us.
This beautiful banner made by the Refuse Fascism DMV chapter was the lead photo in the Aljazeera article on May 1 rallies.
